BadRabbit Ransomware Attack

We got notice this morning that there was a rather large outbreak of another ransomware attack yesterday. Called BadRabbit it is mainly focused on these countries:  USA, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Germany, Bulgaria, and Estonia

Malwarebytes says it’s protecting against this particular attack, if you are getting notices of Malwarebytes updates, by all means do it immediately.  If you are running Malwarebytes business, you will need to have the Malwarebytes Anti Ransomware addon enabled to be protected against this.  If you have disabled this for some reason, I highly suggest you turn it back on and make sure it’s up to date.

For those of you not familiar with ransomware, it encrypts all of your files, (documents, pdf’s, pictures… etc), and they are basically useless, the only 2 remedies are either pay the ransom to the criminals who created the infection and hope they will give you the key to get your stuff back. Or have a backup that is offsite or not connected to your computer when the infection strikes.
